Senator Schmitt Statement on Supreme Court’s Decision in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo
WASHINGTON – Today, Senator Eric Schmitt released a statement following the Supreme Court decision in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo – a case that largely dealt with Chevron deference:
“Today’s Supreme Court decision in Loper Bright v. Raimondo that overrules Chevron is a generational win for the Constitution and for the American people. The Loper Bright decision is a critical step forward in fundamentally dismantling the unelected and unchecked power of Joe Biden’s administrative state. For far too long, deep-state bureaucrats tucked away in a cubicle in Washington have called the shots.
Today, the Supreme Court chose people over power, the Founders over the federal government. However, this case, while a generational win, is not the end of the fight. It’s time for Congress to reassert its power and ensure that courts don’t revert to pre-Chevron forms of deference. It’s time to act to ensure that the Article I branch resumes its Constitutional duty as the people’s branch, and that the Senate returns to its former glory as the world’s greatest deliberative body. Stay tuned,” said Senator Eric Schmitt.
