Senator Schmitt, Senator Ossoff’s Bipartisan Think Differently Database Act Signed into Law

WASHINGTON – This weekend, Senator Eric Schmitt and Senator Jon Ossoff’s Think Differently Database Act was signed into law by the President:

“The Think Differently Database Act creates a comprehensive website that provides organization to much-needed resources that benefit those with disabilities. I first entered public service because of my son Stephen, and fighting for individuals with disabilities has always been a top priority for me. I’m extremely proud that this critical piece of legislation was signed into law, but my efforts to improve the lives of those with disabilities will continue,” said Senator Eric Schmitt

“Working alongside Senator Schmitt, we brought Republicans and Democrats together to help Georgia families and families nationwide identify and access resources for people with disabilities,” said Sen. Ossoff.

BACKGROUND

  • The Think Differently Database Act directs the Secretary of Health & Human Services to create an easy-to-access website that includes:
    • Federal and state resources available for those with intellectual disabilities.
    • Resources that connect individuals, families, and caregivers with healthcare, mental health, and other community-based services within state Medicaid programs.
    • A zip code feature that helps individuals locate resources in their community.
  • The Think Differently Database Act marks the second stand-alone piece of legislation that Senator Schmitt introduced that’s been signed into law.
  • Senator Schmitt has made fighting for individuals with disabilities a top priority of his Senate tenure, and has introduced multiple pieces of legislation that aim to improve the lives of those with disabilities. That includes the Think Differently Database Act, as well as the ENABLE Act, which recently passed the Senate.
