Senator Schmitt Joins Senator Marshall in Vote of No Confidence Resolution
WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Senator Schmitt joined a resolution of no confidence put forward by Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas underscoring Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas’ failure to address the crisis at the Southern border:
“The Biden Administration and Secretary Mayorkas have utterly failed to address the humanitarian crisis at our Southern border. Because of their lax policies and lack of action, illegal drugs like fentanyl, human trafficking, and cartel activity are flooding over the border and into our communities – every state is now a border state. Secretary Mayorkas even refused to admit to the crisis of his own doing in multiple Senate hearings. Missourians and Americans have no confidence in Secretary Mayorkas and the Biden Administration to secure the Southern border and keep our communities safe,” said Senator Eric Schmitt
Background
- Because of Biden’s lax border policies, there have been more than 5 million illegal border crossings at the Southern Border.
- More than 5,000,000 illegal immigrants have entered our country, including:
- Convicted felons
- Human traffickers
- Drug dealers
- Known terrorists
- 2,848 pounds of deadly fentanyl and 13,639 pounds of methamphetamine were seized at the Southern border in March alone, with much more getting through.
