Senator Schmitt Questions Witnesses on Strategic Posture of The United States, Current Deterrence and Capabilities of America’s Nuclear Arsenal
WASHINGTON – Today, Senator Eric Schmitt questioned witnesses in a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on the current state of America’s nuclear capabilities and deterrence:
BACKGROUND:
- The Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) has played a pivotal role in ensuring the United States military is prepared to defend our nation against our adversaries for over 70 years.
- KCNSC is one of only eight sites in the U.S. included in the National Nuclear Security Administration.
- On the global stage, KCNSC safeguards the U.S. with products and services supporting deterrence, supply chain assurance, and responsiveness to global threats.
- In the FY2024 NDAA, Senator Schmitt fought to secure over one billion dollars in nuclear stockpile modernization benefitting KCNSC, further establishing the campus’ importance to the United States’ nuclear deterrence and capabilities.
