Senator Schmitt Votes to Advance Pete Hegseth’s Nomination Out of Senate Armed Services Committee
WASHINGTON – Earlier this evening, Senator Schmitt voted to advance Pete Hegseth’s nomination to be Secretary of Defense out of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Hegseth’s nomination will now advance to the Senate floor for full consideration by the United States Senate.
“Pete Hegseth will bring a warfighter’s ethos to the Department of Defense, something that is sorely needed. For far too long, our Department of Defense has been plagued with divisive DEI programs and misaligned priorities. Pete Hegseth is the person for the job, where he will bring much needed reform to our broken procurement process, ensure we’re prepared to face our chief adversary China, and shift the focus of the department to lethality and preparedness. I was proud to vote for him in the Senate Armed Services Committee, and I look forward to voting for him on the Senate floor.”
